It's A New Year

Happy New Year to you all. It's a new year, and we all hope for a new beginning, and the strength to see through. Don't give up on those dreams yet! The fact that you are alive means there is a purpose for which you are living. That purpose needs to be fulfilled. 2008 was a successful year for some, for others it was a trying time. The world definitely had it's own share of problems, but we thank God for seeing us through. He has never failed! 2009 is going to be glorious! Faith is an important part of our lives. Let's all strive to work harder, to give our best and to stay focused on the goal...the prize. Strive to be a better person. to maintain healthy relationships, and accomplish your dreams, fulfill hopes, and achieve aspirations. It's a good year. You BELIEVE, work HARD, pray FERVENTLY...because to YOU , you owe this ATTAINMENT!!! It's a GREAT year.

It's been a while...

Thought about you some few days ago, felt as if she offended you by not writing...Listening to "Ekundayo" by TY Bello, and became motivated to write. It is true not having as much readers could sometimes make a blogger think twice. Thinking, without readers, there's no use for the blog. However, still appreciative of those who take the time to come around and hope to God it makes a difference. Thought about writing about relationships, marriage and even ask questions and talk about ladies who keep going back to abusive relationships. But it doesn't feel right as of yet. Believe everything in life happens in good timing. Not blogging when you feel you are suppose to, or not blogging at the usual time (you blog), creates a feeling in you...as if you let someone down, or like committing an offense. Although it's different this time because you are fully aware of this act, but one doesn't 'retrace' one's steps.

So was writing a paper this week about multiculturalism for one of her Sociology classes and came across a quote by Malcolm X, which seems pretty interesting. Using a cup of coffee to explain the concept of multiculturalism and its significance. Pretty neat eh? Below is the quote by someone we all remember (controversial...you may say)! Writing this now reminds one of Spike Lee's 'Malcolm X'(s') film. Anyhuu...leaving you with the quote for this week:
"It's just like when you've got some coffee that's too black, which means it's too strong. What do you do? You integrate it with cream, you make it weak. But if you pour too much cream in it, you wouldn't even know you ever had coffee. It used to be hot, it becomes cool. It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep."
Moral: Do everything in moderation.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA- The 44th Presidential Elect!

So just had to blog earlier this week. With November 4th (2008 obviously) being a very historic day in the United States! Am sure we all remember where we were when Obama was elected as being the 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Some of us couldn't laugh or cry, others cried, laughed and screamed. Finally Martin Luther King's dream had come true. The world stands to witness this victory. And as Obama puts it, it's we (the voters), the people that own this victory. In his words; "Change has come to America". Yes we can, is now as of November 4th 2008...YES WE HAVE!

Our prayer is God would give him the strength to lead his people. Like Obama said "it might not be done in 1yr or in a term, slowly but surely we would get there."
And to top it all...his acceptance speech [which was *speechless*] and this whole event is something we all can learn from.
"This victory alone is not the change we seek- it is only the chance for us to make that change."
CONGRATULATIONS TO AMERICA'S 44TH PRESIDENTIAL ELECT...BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!

As we all know: "Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk, Martin walked so that Barack Obama could run, Obama is running so that our children can fly." Keep the flag flying people.
This victory tells us that; when we dream we should dream BIG, don't give up, it would take a lot of hard work, but it's all worth it. YES YOU CAN, YES WE HAVE!

5ive Categories of Wives...

Hope you aren't surprised at the title of this post...lol! Oh well, what can we say? This was inspired by someone in the film industry. And according to the person there are five categories of women. Would agree with the way these five categories were described. So here goes the list;

The categories are as follows:
1.) Double Dealers: They are neither here nor there. Not because they don't want to get married, but their ex-lovers won't let them. They answer to both their husbands and their concubines. Sometimes they treat their concubines better than they treat their husbands.

2.) Friends: They are friends to the husbands and at the same time to the concubines. They can have two husbands in their neighborhood.

3.) Elders- known as 'egbon'* (a.k.a The Controllers): They behave as if God has given them powers. They are very powerful and whatever they say musn't be changed. It's a case of 'yes' and 'amen', no questions asked! They give orders to their husbands and they don't see it as something bad. Even her mother-in-law dare not come pay them a visit. She'll throw out her property: After all, 'why does she have to come without any prior notice?' She won't like to see her husband's relations, but her husband will and must take care of the responsibilities of her own relations!

The above 3hree types are placed in the 'bad' categories.

4.) A Wife like a Mother: 'If a mother is talking to her child, if the child is sensible and responsible, he'll listen to his mother'. This is a wife that wants nothing but the best for her husband.

5.) A Wife like a Child: A wife who will advice her husband and, who will be very industrious.

*Note: 'egbon' is a yoruba word for someone older than you (i.e. senior).

Now, wouldn't be surprised if some people do not agree with these categories, bearing in mind it's based on a subjective view. But we would probably have people who agree with one or more of the above categories. It's been nice having you around. Stay safe and have a blast this new week!
